Capitalising on the existing post-war cream brick structure, the modernisation and renovation of the View St. Residence began with the removal of the existing roof. Cut into a steep slope, the home comprised of two levels, with the upper- level half above the level of the street. This provided an exciting opportunity to construct a house that was 50% buried.

A pool and courtyard accessible off the main entry on the lower level was positioned in the front yard. Major project challenges included the rectification of existing structures, undertaking major works on a main road and the constructions of a pool without undermining existing structures.
